Day 1: The drive passes the small town of Thika surrounded by pineapple plantations. Lunch is at the Outspan Hotel, in Nyeri in the case of visitors to Treetops and Mountain Lodge and at the Aberdare Country Club in the case of the Ark. In the afternoon proceed to your Tree Hotel where the night is spent and here a procession of forest animals visit the floodlit water holes and salt licks.
Day 2: In the morning descend to your base hotel before returning to Nairobi in time for lunch.
